Welcome. Here you can find information on various types of flutes and bamboo saxes I make. Most are made of bamboo or Aroundo Donax. They are handmade using techniques traditional in their place of their origin.

Native American Flute - The Love Flute

In love with a beautiful girl but very shy to tell her, a young man is leaving the camp disappointed. One night, in the woods, magical guests offer him a special gift - a love flute. The holes drilled by woodpeckers, carved by the animals of the forest, with it he speaks about his love to the girl where the words have failed.

This is a legend of the Dakota people about the origin of the love flute, a flute usually being used when men invited the girl they loved to share their blanket beside the fire.

This flute is one of the easiest to play as you only need to blow at the top open end to produce a sound. The pentatonic scale sounds good even when you play random notes, making improvisation easier.

I usually make them in G and F pentatonic tuning with 5 finger holes. G fits easily on female hands, as the finger holes are close together.  The F is slightly bigger and comfortable for someone with medium / large hands.
