Bamboo Sax
These instruments are great for someone who wants a pocket saxophone
that fits in a small bag. If you, like me, always wanted to learn how to play the saxophone , a bamboo sax is a great place
to start before spending a large amount for a decent student saxophone.
A Bamboo Sax is not , in any case, a saxophone replacement. It is a
different instrument, simpler to play, with similar to the major flute fingering and a warm saxophone sound that impresses. The mouthpiece that I use is an alto saxophone mouthpiece with a tenor 1.5 reed.
I also make mouthpieces from Aroundo Donax.

The Bamboo Sax has an octave range, 6 holes in the front and one at the
back for the thumb.
It is tuned in a major scale and comes in Soprano, Alto and Tenor versions.

Soprano
The Soprano is tuned in C major. It has a comfortable size for someone with small
hands as the holes are close together but it is also comfortable for
someone with large hands. It has the highest voice and a 35 cm length
(13.5 ")
Alto
The alto is tuned in Bb major
and it is comfortable for someone with medium or large hands. For
someone with small hands the soprano would be more suitable. It has a length of about
43 cm (17 ")

Tenor
The tenor is tuned in G major. Good for someone with medium to large hands. Someone with small hands should avoid it. At a length of about 48
cm (19 "), the tenor, has the
lowest voice and a deep jazzy tone.
